The Final Beam Is In!

Gateway Community CollegeThe new Gateway Community College is soon to be a reality. Located in downtown New Haven, the new Gateway campus replaces an outgrown facility and better positions the GCC to achieve its vision and goals. The final beam was placed recently after being signed by hundreds who had helped bring the project to reality. The college was desperately in need of expanded, updated facilities. Enrollment at Gateway has been steadily increasing. With the decline in the economy, many people seek new skills to get back into the employment market. The college had to expand night and weekend classes and was very pressed for classroom space.

The new campus, pictured above, will include two four-story buildings, a 600-car parking garage, health center and early learning facility. The $198 million project is expected to open in September 2012 and will welcome approximately 11,000 students. FHI is proud to have played a key role in project development. Working with Gateway Community College and the Connecticut Department of Public Works, FHI was responsible for all environmental documentation and State Traffic Commission approvals.
