COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROJECT MANAGER

FHI is seeking an experienced Project Manager for our Community Engagement Service team. The best candidate will have a passion for working with the public, governmental agencies and project stakeholders, leading engagement efforts that result in optimal project outcomes and, ultimately, better communities. Community engagement is one of the most important aspects of a successful project, requiring keen insight and carefully executed but flexible plans. We are looking for someone with 10 years minimum experience as a project manager with a proven record of developing and implementing innovative public outreach techniques and strategies for public and private sector clients.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage all aspects of community engagement projects both in and outside of CT, including successful management of project budgets, schedules, and high-quality project delivery
  • Develop and implement strategic outreach plans to meaningfully include and facilitate communication with stakeholders and the general public on transportation and community planning projects, utilizing a wide variety of tools and techniques including public meetings, printed materials, social media, website, press releases, and PowerPoint presentations
  • Lead a project team, exhibiting proficiency in public speaking and meeting facilitation for a variety of clients (Federal, State, regional, municipal agencies/stakeholder groups)
  • Collaborate with clients and agencies on project development and planning, including the development of key outreach messages and themes
  • Facilitate stakeholder and strategy meetings and workshops
  • Digest complex and multifaceted concepts and direct graphic designers and project staff on development of effective communication tools including infographics, website content, presentations, media coordination (legal notices and display advertising), and webinars
  • Lead business development efforts and proposal activities that includes guiding preparation of proposal and presentation materials
  • Experience with public relations/marketing/communications/branding a plus
  • Experience working with disenfranchised and traditionally under-represented populations

Desired Skills + Experience:

  • 10+ years experience in a business/consulting environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree minimum
  • Leadership and project management experience
  • Business development experience
  • Excellent communication skills with strong written, oral, editing, and analytical abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills; interested in working in dynamic, collaborative studio environment
  • Experience with event planning, communications, research
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; basic understanding of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign) and visual graphic design a plus
  • Knowledge of social media communications plans
  • Knowledge of public relations and media plans
  • Knowledge of online applications including project websites and surveys
  • Knowledge of innovative community engagement tools
  • Background in the transportation industry, urban planning/design, land use, or related field a plus
  • Willingness to attend evening meetings and travel on project-related business
  • Multilingual ability an asset
  • Valid Driver’s License
