Staff Notes

Congratulations to our own Shawna Kitzman, who was named one of Hartford Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 for 2019! Shawna was selected from 180 nominees. In addition to her stellar work at FHI, she started a company called Jam Program, which hosts bravery-building and community events that bring together women of all ages. She also serves as the Chair of West Hartford’s Parks & Recreation Committee, volunteers for Moms Demand Action, and manages the FHI CT team of APA Ambassadors. We’re so proud of you, Shawna!

FHI’s Bonnie Damato-Torres, WTS CT President, was part of an inspiring panel on Career Paths at the WTS CT/COMTO joint event on June 19.

Laurel Stegina received a Leadership Program Silver Award from the WTS-Connecticut Chapter for completing managerial competency sessions in the areas of innovation and change management, cultural awareness, communication, negotiations, and professional accountability and ethical conduct. Congratulations Laurel!

Susan VanBenschoten was one of four distinguished panelists at the GNY-WTS “Women Who Broke the Glass Ceiling” event. One of the goals of WTS is to create opportunities for women to shatter the glass ceiling through educational and professional development programs, networking opportunities, and strong and effective mentorship programs.

WTS International Conference in Boston was a huge success! FHI was a sponsor, exhibitor, and designed and led the Annual Women Business Owner’s Roundtable for its sixth year! We look forward to Phoenix next year!

Susan VanBenschoten, with Maggie Walsh, WTS International Chair from HDR. A rare relaxing moment at the 2019 International Conference in Boston. An example of two great women leaders in our industry.

FHI’s Carla Tillery co-chaired the ITE Registration Committee for the 2019 ITE Northeastern District Annual Meeting; held in May in New Haven, CT.

Many people know the origins of FHI and since the beginning we have been a family friendly company! The tradition lives on. Shawna and her daughter Emmeline hard at work!

FHI’s owners gathered for their annual Shareholder Retreat on the beautiful Connecticut shoreline. We spent the day discussing the future of FHI and were honored to have our Board Advisor, Kathy Stein, facilitate our discussions.

The FHI Corkscrew has been getting around lately...

Meghan Bard brought the FHI corkscrew across the world to Prague.

Even our clients and consultants love to travel with the FHI Corkscrew. Here is our trusted Financial Advisor from DGC (Boston), Dave Sullivan on his recent trip to Hawaii.

The FHI Corkscrew visits Seattle on Lake Union, from Leslie Black’s daughters floating home rooftop deck.
