  • Senior Finance Manager

    Fitzgerald & Halliday, Inc. (FHI) is seeking a Senior Finance Manager to oversee and advance the financial division of the firm. This position is based out of our Corporate Headquarters in Hartford, CT. We are looking for a financial professional with strong analytical, communications, problem-solving, and leadership skills who can help transition through the approaching retirement of FHI’s Director of Finance and help guide our financial operations as we continue to grow and evolve.

    FHI has been in the transportation, community, and environmental engineering and planning consulting business for over 30 years. Over this time, we have grown in revenue, services, and geographical reach; with projects and clients throughout New England, the Tri-State region, and the Mid-Atlantic region.     This is a new position within FHI and it reflects our growth and increased size and complexity of operations. It is intended to meet three very important objectives including: overseeing all aspects of our financial operations; documenting, forecasting, and driving financial performance; and decreasing our need for outside CPA consulting services.

    This position will provide critical oversight to business performance, corrective action tracking, and ongoing priority setting to achieve profitable growth and sustainability. This position will also partner with the current Director of Finance in the development of a roadmap and implementation to manage data effectively and efficiently as well as design uniform processes, enhance business controls, and other procedures to improve efficiencies across the organization and plan for succession.

    This position requires the ability to form strong working partnerships with senior staff to effectively execute and support the Company's objectives.

    Qualifications:

    • 10+ years of experience in business finance roles, with at least 5+ years in senior financial management role.
    • Accounting or Finance degree; MBA is a plus but not required.
    • Knowledge of the Architecture and Engineering (A&E) industry preferred.
    • Understands P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow dynamics.
    • Deep knowledge of accounting principles, laws/regulations and GAAP
    • Strong analytical skills with proven ability to operate at both the strategic and tactical level.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees.
    • Advanced Excel skills, and strong skills in Word and PowerPoint.
    • Strong familiarity with Deltek/Ajera preferred.
    • Candidates must have a valid driver's license.

  • Finance Administrator

    Fitzgerald & Halliday, Inc. (FHI) is seeking a Finance Administrator to provide support for the finance and corporate service areas of the firm. This position is based out of our Corporate Headquarters in Hartford, CT. We are looking for a financial professional with strong analytical, communications, and problem-solving skills who can be a vital part of our finance team.

    Responsibilities will include reviewing and processing accounts payable invoices and employee payroll and expenses and processing project invoicing and accounts receivable. Additionally, the Finance Administrator will assist with project and financial reporting, support employee benefit assessments, and other miscellaneous related duties.

    The ideal candidate must have the ability to work under pressure and deadlines with a calm and positive attitude. The candidate should also be able to demonstrate strong computer and organizational skills, flexibility, versatility, and the ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff.  Experience with Deltek/Ajera is preferred, a general understanding of GAAP (General Accepted Accounting Principles) and bookkeeping procedures, as well as strong proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Environmental Project Manager

    FHI is seeking an experienced Project Manager for our Environmental Services team. This position will be located in our New York City office. For this position, FHI is seeking someone with 10 years minimum experience with a proven record of leading environmental documentation and permitting projects throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, including NEPA, SEQRA and CEQR compliance. Candidates for this position should demonstrate their ability to lead project teams, supervise and develop staff, provide excellent client service with innovative and strategic solutions, and conduct business development. In addition, candidates must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage project teams and technical sub-consultants
    • Coordinate with clients
    • Prepare NEPA, SEQRA and CEQR documentation
    • Guide permitting efforts
    • Develop project scopes of work, fee estimates, and schedules
    • Plan and participate in stakeholder meetings, public workshops, and public hearings
    • Conduct technical analysis and write reports
    • Provide quality assurance and control 
    • Help grow FHI’s Environmental Service Line through identifying and pursuing new business opportunities

  • Internship Program

    Fitzgerald & Halliday, Inc. offers internships to students in our Connecticut and New York City offices. Placements range in duration from four weeks to one year. Our collaborative environment and atmosphere will provide a unique experience and exposure to all aspects of planning in our transportation, environmental, community, and public involvement service lines. Our internship program offers a range of development opportunities.
